J&K ACB Traps and Arrests Police Official for Accepting ₹10,000 Bribe in Rajouri

Rajouri, August 25 (KNZ): The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested Sgct Arif Iqbal, currently posted at Police Post Lam (Nowshera), Rajouri, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.

The ACB had received a written complaint alleging that the accused police official telephonically summoned the complainant to Police Post Lam in connection with a complaint lodged by a resident of Pukharni, Tehsil Qila Darhal, District Rajouri. The complainant alleged that Sgct Arif Iqbal demanded a bribe of ₹10,000 for himself and the Incharge Police Post Lam to avoid implicating him in the said case.

Unwilling to succumb to the illegal demand, the complainant approached the ACB, which, after discreet verification, registered FIR No. 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Rajouri.

Subsequently, a trap team was constituted. The team successfully caught the accused police official red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of ₹10,000 from the complainant. He was arrested on the spot by the ACB after completing all legal formalities. In addition, searches were conducted at his residential premises.

The investigation of the case is underway.KNZ
