JKPCC Celebrates World Environment Day at GD Goenka, Inspires Students Towards Green Future

Srinagar, June 5: The Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee (JKPCC), in collaboration with DEERS and GD Goenka Public School, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students and staff.

 

The programme aimed to spread awareness about environmental conservation, waste management, and sustainable practices among young students.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Er. Bilal Ahmad Khan, District Officer, JKPCC, highlighted the importance of World Environment Day and emphasized the need for waste segregation at the source. He encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives and work collectively towards building a cleaner and greener future.

 

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tanveer Ahmad Parry from DEERS began his speech with the slogan “Go Green” and inspired students to become ambassadors of environmental protection. He urged them to actively contribute towards maintaining a healthy and pollution-free environment.

 

As part of the event, Ms. Sabiya Mahajan administered an environmental pledge to the students, reaffirming their commitment towards protecting nature and promoting sustainable living.

 

The programme was organized by the team at GD Goenka Public School under the guidance of the school authorities and HR Head Mr. Adil. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks.

 

Principal Mr. Jhonson P. J. expressed his happiness over hosting the programme and appreciated the efforts of JKPCC, DEERS, and all stakeholders in promoting environmental awareness among students. He stated that such awareness programmes play a crucial role in shaping responsible and environmentally conscious citizens.
