Srinagar, July 17(KNZ/TMJ) : In an inspiring feat of endurance, resilience and sporting excellence, two Physical Education teachers from Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district successfully completed a gruelling single-day mountain biking expedition from Ganderbal to Razdan Top and back, conquering one of the most demanding cycling routes in Jammu and Kashmir.

The cyclists, Nissar Ahmad, a Physical Education Teacher at BHSS Kangan, and Ishtiyaq Ismail Bhat, covered an estimated 200 kilometres in a single day, negotiating steep ascents, winding mountain roads and high-altitude terrain that tested both physical stamina and mental resolve.

A major highlight of the expedition was the formidable climb from Bandipora to Razdan Top, a stretch widely regarded as one of the toughest mountain roads in the region. Perched at an altitude of approximately 11,672 feet above sea level, Razdan Top is known for its relentless gradients, sharp hairpin bends and challenging terrain, making it a demanding destination even for experienced cyclists.

Their achievement not only reflects personal excellence but also sends a powerful message about the importance of physical fitness, perseverance and embracing outdoor adventure.

The accomplishment has drawn appreciation from the local community and sports enthusiasts alike, with many describing it as an inspiring example for young people to adopt cycling, endurance sports and healthy living as a way of life.

The remarkable expedition has added another chapter to Kashmir’s growing adventure sports culture while bringing pride to the Kangan region through an extraordinary display of courage, commitment and human endurance.(KNZ/TMJ)
