Lauds Contribution of Dard-Shina Community
Gurez, Aug 6 (KNC): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the National Tribal Festival in Gurez today, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Dard-Shina tribal community.
Addressing the gathering as per news agency Kashmir News Corner --- KNC, LG highlighted the immense contribution of tribal communities to India’s cultural diversity and commended their enduring spirit and traditions.
He noted that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant efforts are being made to preserve the invaluable tribal culture, while also restoring the ancient glory and dignity of these communities. According to the News Service Associated News Bureau ANB “The rich traditions of our tribal communities are a guiding light for the nation. This festival is not just a celebration of their customs and art forms, but a reaffirmation of our commitment to safeguarding their identity,” the LG said.
As part of the event, a community radio station was also launched in Gurez to engage and inspire the younger generation. The station aims to promote awareness and pride among youth regarding their cultural roots, traditional knowledge systems, and social values.
The festival featured traditional music, dance, handicrafts, and local cuisine, offering a glimpse into the vibrant lifestyle of the Dard-Shina people.
The National Tribal Festival in Gurez stands as a testament to the government's focus on inclusive cultural revival and the empowerment of tribal communities across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. (KNC)
