Srinagar, Apr 23: Kulgam resident Shakir Bashir Sheikh, reportedly missing in Sharjah, was located in a jail there and faces release after a 2000 AED fine.
According to reports, Shakir was detained for allegedly sharing and posting Iran-related content on social media, which reportedly violated local regulations.
Sources said that after payment of the imposed fine, he will be deported from the United Arab Emirates.
Following the incident, AIMSA has urged all Indian citizens residing abroad not to post or share sensitive geopolitical or war-related material on social media and to strictly follow the laws of the country they are living in.
The Association also appealed to expatriates to remain cautious while using online platforms to avoid legal complications overseas.
