Ganderbal, Mar 27 (KNZ) — Police have seized nine tractors for alleged illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Friday.

The vehicles were seized in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kangan and Police Post Nagbal during a drive against illegal mining activities, they said.

According to officials, the tractors were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorisation, in violation of prescribed norms.

The vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was referred to the Geology and Mining Department, which imposed fines under relevant provisions of law.

Police said the drive against illegal mining will continue and urged the public to cooperate in curbing such activities.(KNZ)
