Police Crack Blind Murder, Kidnapping Case in 12 Hours in Budgam; Accused Held, Minor Girl Rescued

Srinagar, May 15 (KNC): Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have solved a blind murder and kidnapping case within 12 hours in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, arresting the accused and safely rescuing a kidnapped minor girl.

 

According to a statement issued to KNC, Police Station Khansahib received information at around 3:05 am regarding an accident at Chek Sheera area of Khansahib, where an unidentified vehicle had allegedly run over a woman pedestrian, leading to her death.

 

Following the incident, police registered FIR No. 96/2026 under Sections 125A and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and immediately launched an investigation.

 

During the probe, investigators discovered that the 15-year-old daughter of the deceased woman had been abducted and that the woman was allegedly murdered while trying to stop the kidnapping attempt.

 

Police said a special team led by the SDPO Khansahib carried out an intensive investigation, examining CCTV footage and gathering technical evidence to trace the accused.

 

After sustained efforts, the accused was arrested from Parimpora area of Srinagar, while the kidnapped minor girl was rescued safely within 12 hours of the crime.

 

Police further stated that additional charges related to murder and kidnapping have now been incorporated into the case, while further investigation is in progress.

 

Budgam Police said the swift resolution of the case reflects prompt action, coordinated teamwork and the commitment of the investigating officers towards maintaining public safety and bringing criminals to justice. (KNC)
