Anantnag June 04: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining activities in the district, police in Anantnag seized six vehicles involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minor minerals in separate operations and initiated legal action against the violators.
In the first operation, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara intercepted and seized two tippers carrying sand illegally. In this regard, FIR No. 146/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up.
In another operation, a police party from Police Post DK Pora, during patrolling at Khoshipora, seized three tractors loaded with illegally extracted nallah bajri. Cognizance of the matter has been taken and further legal proceedings have been initiated.
Similarly, during patrolling duty at Brinty Batpora, a police party from Police Post DK Pora seized one tractor (without registration number) loaded with illegally extracted boulders. Appropriate legal action has been initiated in the matter.
Police remains committed to curbing illegal mining activities, which pose a serious threat to the environment and public resources. Strict action will continue against individuals involved in such unlawful practices.
