Srinagar, June 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday announced a 14-day summer vacation for all government and recognised private schools up to the Higher Secondary level across the Kashmir Division.
According to an order issued by the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), all educational institutions covered under the order will remain closed from July 6 to July 19, 2026. Schools will reopen on July 20, unless otherwise notified by the government.
The order said the decision has been taken with the approval of the competent authority and will be applicable to all government and recognised private schools up to the Higher Secondary level functioning across the Kashmir Division.
The Directorate has directed all Chief Education Officers to ensure strict implementation of the order and communicate it to the institutions under their jurisdiction.
The announcement comes as schools across the Valley prepare for the annual summer break, with the government expected to review the academic calendar after the vacation period if required.
