Sonamarg : The Sonamarg Development Authority (SDA) has directed the immediate removal of unauthorised parking from green areas, open meadows and other ecologically fragile zones in Sonamarg, stressing the need to protect the area’s natural environment and ensure proper traffic management.

In an office order dated October 30, 2026, the authority directed the concerned traffic police officials to remove vehicles parked without authorisation at several locations, including areas near Hotel Mount View, Hotel Akbar, Hotel Namrose, Thajiwas Gate, Gadkol and along the Srinagar-Leh National Highway.

According to the order, all vehicles found parked in unauthorised locations will be shifted to designated parking facilities at the Old Truck Yard and Shukhtadi, in accordance with applicable traffic regulations.

The DySP Traffic, Ganderbal, has been directed to ensure strict implementation of the order and deploy adequate traffic personnel at the identified locations. The Station House Officer (SHO), Police Station Sonamarg, has also been asked to provide the necessary police personnel and assistance to facilitate the removal of unauthorised parking and prevent any obstruction during the enforcement drive.
