Shopian Police Bust Alleged Militant Financing Module, Arrest 10 Suspected Associates

Shopian, Oct 30, KNT: Shopian Police have claimed to have busted an alleged militant financing network linked to militants and their associates lodged in different jails, arresting 10 suspected associates in connection with the case.

According to police, the network came under investigation following the detection of suspicious online financial transactions carried out through various payment platforms. Analysis of the transactions reportedly helped investigators trace money trails across multiple layers and identify individuals suspected of involvement in militant financing.

The arrested persons have been identified as Owais Shafi Naikoo, Tajamul Ahmad Shah, Moiz Iqbal, Imdad Yousuf Ganie, Saqib Zahoor Wani, Aamir Ahmad Ganie, Firdous Thokar, Liyaqat Nazir Lone, Muhammad Hanief and Kaju.

Police said preliminary investigation suggests that the accused were allegedly collecting money from the public and routing it through established financial channels to facilitate the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF).

The funds were also allegedly used to arrange logistical support, including smartphones, for activities linked to the groups, police said.

In this connection, FIR No. 231/2026 has been registered at Police Station Shopian under relevant sections of law.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the wider network, trace additional financial links and identify other suspected individuals. More arrests are possible, they added. [KNT]
