SRINAGAR, AUGUST 8: The 57-day-long Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, which commenced on July 3 from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, will remain suspended from August 9 in view of ongoing track restoration works and adverse weather conditions forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The annual pilgrimage will culminate with Chadi Mubarak on August 28, marking the traditional conclusion of this year’s Yatra.

According to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg, more than 4.8 lakh pilgrims have so far performed Darshan at the Holy Cave.

“Due to the recent rains, repair and maintenance of the Yatra tracks at vulnerable stretches has become necessary. The restoration work is being undertaken by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO),” the Divisional Commissioner said.

He further stated that adverse weather conditions have also been predicted by the IMD over the next few days. Consequently, the Yatra from both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes will remain suspended with effect from August 9, 2026.

The Divisional Commissioner said that Chadi Mubarak will proceed through the traditional Pahalgam route and mark the culmination of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 on August 28.

Anshul Garg appealed to pilgrims to strictly follow advisories issued by the competent authorities from time to time, stressing that adherence to the guidelines is essential for their safety and for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
