Ganderbal, July 2 (KNZ/TMJ): The death of a 35-year-old woman, who was found hanging at her residence in the Waliwar area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Thursday, has taken a new turn after her son and members of her maternal family alleged that her husband was responsible for her death.

The woman was found hanging inside her house, prompting police to rush to the spot and initiate inquest proceedings. Her body was subsequently shifted for post-mortem and other medico-legal formalities.

Following the incident, the deceased’s son and her maternal relatives accused the husband of subjecting her to circumstances that led to her death and urged the police to conduct a thorough, fair and time-bound investigation. The allegations could not be independently verified.

Police have registered the case under relevant legal provisions and said all angles, including the allegations made by the family, are being thoroughly examined.

Officials said the exact cause and circumstances of the woman’s death would be determined only after the completion of the investigation and medico-legal procedures.

Further investigation is underway. (KNZ/TMJ)
