Suspected Leopard Attack Sparks Concern After 16 Sheep Killed in Budgam

 

 

Budgam, September 10: Panic and concern have gripped parts of Chadoora after a suspected leopard entered a livestock enclosure at Badipora village and killed 16 sheep while leaving 17 others injured.

 

The incident occurred during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, according to the flock owner, Imtiyaz Ahmad Chopan.

 

Chopan said the animal attacked the flock after entering the enclosure at night. While he suspected a leopard was responsible, officials have yet to confirm the identity of the animal involved.

 

The loss has reportedly dealt a major financial blow to the family, which relies on livestock rearing for its livelihood.

 

 

The affected family has sought government compensation, while local residents have called for an immediate inspection by the Wildlife Department and preventive measures to avert similar attacks.
