Ganderbal, September 1 (KNC): A copperware shop near the Clock Tower in the Duderhama area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district was allegedly burgled during the intervening night, with burglars making an opening through the shop wall to gain entry and stealing copper items.

According to the shopkeeper, Nazir Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat and a resident of Fatehpora, Ganderbal, the thieves entered the premises after cutting through the wall on the right side of the shop.

The burglars reportedly took away several copper items from the shop. However, no cash was reported missing from the premises.

The incident came to light after the shopkeeper discovered the breach and missing items, following which the matter was brought to the notice of the police.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the burglary. Efforts are underway to identify the persons involved and ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The burglary has caused concern among traders and residents in the area, particularly given the location of the shop near the Clock Tower.

Local shopkeepers have urged the authorities to strengthen security arrangements, increase night patrolling and enhance surveillance around commercial areas to prevent such incidents in the future.(KNC)
