Awantipora, Sep 07 (KNZ): Police in Tral have solved a gold theft case and apprehended two accused persons, recovering stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹4 lakh so far.

The case came to light after Police Station Tral received a complaint on June 28, 2026, regarding the theft of gold ornaments worth around ₹12 lakh from the residence of Muzzafar Ahmad Mohand, son of Late Gh. Ahmad, resident of Sheerabad Bulli, Tral.

Following the complaint, FIR No. 80/2026 under Sections 305 and 331(4) of the BNS was registered at Police Station Tral, and an investigation was initiated.

During the investigation, police meticulously analysed available evidence and technical inputs. Sustained investigative efforts by the police team, headed by SHO Police Station Tral Inspector Tajamul Islam, led to the apprehension of two accused persons.

The accused have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Mochi, son of Noor Mohammad, resident of Larkipora Padgampora and presently residing at Shaheed Park, Pulwama, and Amir Rashid Ganaie, son of Abdul Rashid Ganaie, resident of Khulbagh Batagund.

Police said that, based on the disclosure of the accused, stolen gold ornaments worth approximately ₹4 lakh have been recovered so far. Further investigation into the case is underway, with police stating that additional recoveries and arrests are expected.

Police District Awantipora reiterated its commitment to protecting the lives and property of citizens and said that firm action would continue against those involved in criminal activities.
