VC JKLCMA conducts inspection of Dole Demb area;Assesses scope for beautification, development of site

 

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 05: Vice Chairman (VC), Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (JKLCMA), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today conducted an extensive inspection of the Dole Demb area to review the existing condition of the water body and its surrounding areas and assess the scope for beautification and development of the site.

The Vice Chairman was accompanied by the Superintending Engineer, Collector Land Acquisition, FA&CAO, Executive Engineers of Lake Division 1st and Lake Division 2nd, Technical Officer, Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, and other officers and officials of the Authority.

Emphasizing the importance of developing the site in a planned and sustainable manner, the Vice Chairman directed that the beautification proposal should incorporate modern landscaping, suitable plantation, improved pathways, aesthetic features, and other necessary amenities. He stressed that the area should be developed as a state of the art public space while maintaining the ecological character of the water body. He observed that the development of Dole Demb would also contribute towards enhancing the overall tourism potential of the area and attract more visitors to Dal Lake.

The Vice Chairman directed the concerned officers to immediately undertake bush cutting along the site and carry out other necessary site clearance works to improve the overall appearance and accessibility of the area, so that further dredging and restoration works in the Dole Demb area can be taken up. He further instructed the Engineering Wing to prepare detailed estimates for the proposed beautification and development works at Dole Demb.

The Vice Chairman further directed the concerned officers to ensure close coordination among the Engineering, Revenue, and field wings so that the proposed works are planned and executed in a time bound manner. He emphasized that the development should focus on environmental improvement while enhancing the visual appeal and overall utility of the area for tourism.

Reiterating the Authority’s commitment towards the conservation and beautification of water bodies and their surrounding areas, the Vice Chairman stated that LCMA will continue to undertake integrated conservation, restoration, and development measures to improve urban water bodies and create clean, attractive, and environmentally sustainable spaces for the public and tourists. He emphasized that such initiatives would also contribute towards strengthening the tourism potential of Dal Lake and its adjoining areas.
