Jammu, November 3:A volleyball tournament organised under the Civic Action Programme–2025 of the Jammu and Kashmir Police concluded on Monday at the Battalion Headquarters of JKAP 8th Battalion, Miran Sahib.

The 10-day event, which began on October 24, was held under the supervision of Commandant Suram Singh, JKPS (SSP). A total of 14 teams from various schools and youth volleyball clubs of the Miran Sahib area participated in the tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Singh said the event aimed to encourage sportsmanship, discipline and community engagement among the youth. He said the police would continue to organise such activities to promote positive youth development and strengthen police-public relations.

In the Senior Boys’ category, Simbal Volleyball Club emerged as the winner, while Shine Club finished as runner-up. In the Junior Boys’ category, Bagga Zina Club secured the top position, followed by Mother India Higher Secondary School, R.S. Pura. In the Junior Girls’ category, JK Public School, Kunjwani won the final, with Government Degree College, R.S. Pura finishing second.

The closing ceremony was marked by a prize distribution event, where the winners and runners-up were presented trophies, medals, certificates, uniforms and track suits by Mr. Singh and other officers of the battalion, including SSP Chanderjeet Singh (Dy. Commandant), DySP Bhupinder Singh, DySP Chanchal Singh, DySP Om Prakash Chib and DySP Prabhu Dayal.

Local residents and participants appreciated the efforts of JKAP 8th Battalion for successfully organising the tournament and providing a platform for young players to showcase their talent. The event concluded in a cordial and disciplined manner, underscoring the spirit of teamwork and cooperation between the police and the public.
