Ganderbal, July 9: Continuing its crackdown on narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Ganderbal Police, in coordination with the Revenue and Excise Departments, on Thursday destroyed wild cannabis cultivated over a sizeable area in the Sheikh-Zoo locality falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Shadipora.
The joint anti-drug operation was carried out as part of the district’s sustained efforts to eradicate the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants and curb the spread of drug abuse.
During the drive, officials identified wild cannabis (bhang) growing across a considerable stretch of land and destroyed the crop on the spot to prevent its misuse.
Police said the operation reflects the administration’s continued commitment to eliminating narcotic cultivation and strengthening the fight against substance abuse. Such drives will continue across the district to ensure strict enforcement of anti-drug laws and promote a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
The district police also urged the public to support the campaign by sharing information about illegal cultivation or drug-related activities, reiterating that community participation remains vital to the success of the anti-drug mission.
