Ganderbal, July 12(KNZ/TMJ) : A 24-year-old woman died after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance at her residence in the Wussan area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, officials said on Sunday.

An official told Kashmir News Zone–The Media Journal that the woman was found in a critical condition after the incident and was shifted to District Hospital Ganderbal for immediate medical attention. After her condition failed to improve, she was referred to the (SKIMS)Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for advanced treatment.

Despite the efforts of doctors, she succumbed to her condition while undergoing treatment at the tertiary care hospital, the official said.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the alleged consumption of the poisonous substance.
