Srinagar Police Demolishes Illegal Structure of Notorious Drug Peddler in Noorbagh

Srinagar, May 06:(KNC)Continuing its intensified crackdown against narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Srinagar Police on Tuesday demolished an illegally constructed residential structure belonging to a habitual drug peddler in the Palpora Noorbagh area of Srinagar.

Police identified the accused as Hilal Ahmad Sheikh, son of Feroz Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Zahidpora Hawal presently residing at Pamposh Colony Palpora Noorbagh.

According to police, the accused is involved in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act, including FIR No. 06/2025 under Sections 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Khanyar and FIR No. 47/2026 under Sections 8/20 and 22 NDPS Act at Police Station Safakadal.

During investigation and verification, authorities found that the structure had been illegally raised on encroached state land without any lawful permission. Police said the construction was allegedly financed through proceeds generated from narcotics trafficking and was in blatant violation of revenue laws and established legal procedures.

Further enquiry also revealed that close associates and family members of the accused are reportedly involved in multiple NDPS cases across the Valley, indicating the existence of a wider drug peddling network.

Acting on credible inputs and after completing all legal and codal formalities, the demolition was carried out in coordination with the concerned authorities strictly in accordance with law.

Police said the action sends a strong message that properties created through proceeds of drug trafficking and other illegal activities will not be allowed to stand, and those involved in the narcotics trade will face strict legal consequences.

Srinagar Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem, including its financial and logistical networks. Citizens have also been urged to support the fight against drugs to safeguard society and protect the younger generation from the growing menace of narcotics.(KNC)
