Ganderbal 30 June 2026 :The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) conducted a surprise inspection of the Observation Home, Harwan and Sub Jail at Dignibal to assess the facilities and overall welfare of juveniles lodged in the institutions.
The inspection team comprised the Principal Magistrate, a Member of the Juvenile Justice Board, and the Legal-cum-Probation Officer (LCPO).
During the visit, the team inspected all sections of the Observation Home and Sub Jail, reviewing living conditions, hygiene, safety measures, food quality, medical care, and other essential facilities. The Board also interacted individually with the juveniles to hear their concerns, understand their needs, and assess their overall well-being.
The JJB emphasized the importance of providing a child-friendly environment and ensuring the protection of the rights of children in conflict with the law. It reiterated the need to strengthen measures for their care, protection, rehabilitation, and successful reintegration into society.
The Board issued necessary directions to the concerned authorities to ensure strict compliance with the provisions of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act and to further enhance the welfare and rehabilitation of juveniles residing in the institutions
