Ganderbal, May 22(KNZ/TMJ) : Following an appeal by senior citizens to the Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal and Senior Superintendent of Police Ganderbal, Ganderbal Police on Friday conducted a surprise raid at Qamaria Park, where several school-going students were allegedly found skipping classes during school hours.

Some students were reportedly leaving their homes in school uniform but were not attending their respective schools and instead spending time inside the park.

During the drive, police teams detained several students found in the park and provided them on-the-spot counseling, advising them to focus on their studies and future. Students found smoking were also warned and sensitized about the harmful effects of tobacco use.

The action was appreciated by local residents and senior citizens, who said such drives should continue to discourage truancy and prevent youngsters from falling into unhealthy activities.(KNZ/TMJ)
