Ganderbal, June 28 (KNZ/TMJ): The body of a girl who had fallen into a power canal in the Thune area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday was recovered after an extensive search operation, officials told Kashmir News Zone–The Media Journal.

An official said the girl had accidentally slipped into the power canal earlier in the day, prompting local residents to rush to the spot and alert the authorities. Soon after, personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and Ganderbal Police launched a joint rescue operation to trace her.

Following several hours of intensive searches,the body from the power canal at Satrina in Kangan.

The body was subsequently handed over to the police for completion of medico-legal formalities.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and further proceedings have been initiated, the official added.(KNZ/TMJ)
