Drass, May 23, 2026: In the first public outreach campaign after formation of Drass District, Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) conducted a tour of Muskho and Holiyal villages today. The tour was aimed at assessing the developmental requirements and public welfare aspirations and also at interacting with local residents.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Drass, Vishal Atri (JKAS) and Councillor, LAHDC-Kargil Abdul Samad as well as District and Sectoral Officers including Block Development Officer, Shahid Sultan; Block Medical Officer, Dr. Sajjad Hussain; Forest Range Officer, Mohammad Ilyaz; Zonal Education Officer Mohammad Ibrahim, Block Veterinary Officer, Dr. Mohammad Amin Naqvi; Assistant Executive Engineer, I&FC Mumjaz Hassan; Assistant Executive Engineer, R&B-II Zakir Hussain; Assistant Executive Engineer, PHE, Zakir Hussain; Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD, Mohammad Ali, Agriculture Extension Officer, Stanzin Ldong
and Junior Engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department.
During the visit to Mushko, the Village Numberdar and local residents welcomed the Deputy Commissioner at the Panchayat Ghar and highlighted various issues and developmental needs of the area. The villagers raised crucial matters related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare facilities, irrigation, education, and other essential public services. While expressing gratitude for the Deputy Commissioner’s visit, the inhabitants hoped for similar interactions in future on a regular basis.
The Deputy Commissioner also visited the Government High School and took stock of the facilities and availability of teachers and student enrolment. He appreciated the efforts of the School Management and Village Education Committee towards maintaining quality education in the area.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner visited the site of the newly constructed High School Building, constructed strictly as per CBSE norms, and took stock of the pace of ongoing works. He passed instructions for making the entire building winter-friendly and to ensure that all spaces are utilized optimally. to The Assistant Executive Engineer, R&B-II sought his intervention for clearing liabilities of the contractor.
During the visit to Holiyal, the Deputy Commissioner was welcomed at the Panchayat Ghar by local residents. They thanked him for the maiden visit and expressed hope for similar visits in future as well. Various critical matters pertaining to road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare facilities, irrigation, education and other essential public services were highlighted during the interaction. A charter of demands was placed before the Deputy Commissioner. He passed on-spot instructions for immediate resolution of critical matters and also assured that the demands for bigger projects would be taken up with the concerned authorities. Subsequently, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Government Middle School of Holiyal where he was welcomed by the Headmaster, teachers and students. He interacted with staff and distributed prizes among students in connection with the School’s Painting Competition (Upper Block Level) along with the Councillor and Officers.
During the visit to both villages, the Deputy Commissioner patiently listened to the grievances and demands projected by the residents and directed the concerned Officers to take necessary measures for timely redressal of genuine issues. He emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among departments to ensure effective implementation of developmental works and better delivery of public services in rural areas.
While highlighting the intent about taking governance to the doorstep, the Deputy Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the District Administration towards easy accessibility, prompt response and effective resolution.
