DC Ganderbal reviews progress under JJM, SBM(G); stresses timely completion of Water Supply Schemes

 

GANDERBAL, JUNE 11: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today chaired a review meeting to review the Comprehensive Implementation and Reforms Plan (CIRP) and progress under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G) in the district.

 

During the meeting, the Executive Engineer PHE informed that the district has successfully completed JJM 1.0, under which Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) were provided to rural households. It was further informed that JJM 2.0 is focused on completion of ongoing and approved water supply schemes to strengthen rural drinking water infrastructure.

 

Reviewing the status of schemes under JJM, the DC was informed that out of 10 identified schemes, five have been completed while work on the remaining schemes is progressing at an advanced stage.

 

The meeting was also apprised that under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative, 118 out of 129 selected villages have been certified. Further, all 120 eligible Gram Panchayats in the district have achieved certification under the Jal Seva Aankalan assessment.

 

The DC also reviewed habitation-wise progress on creation of Rural Piped Water Supply System (RPWSS) IDs. He directed concerned engineers to expedite disposal of pending cases and submit weekly progress reports for close monitoring.

 

The DC also reviewed water quality monitoring and surveillance activities, SBM(G) interventions and the ongoing ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign. Stressing the importance of water conservation, he sought regular weekly reporting on its implementation.

 

The DC emphasized coordinated efforts, adherence to timelines and effective execution of schemes to ensure sustainable access to safe drinking water across rural areas of the district.

 

Among others, the meeting was attended by the Superintending Engineer Hydraulics PHE, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineers of PHE Divisions Ganderbal and Sumbal, Chief Agriculture Officer and other concerned officers.
