Srinagar, Sep 23 (GNS): Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has ordered attachment of a double-storeyed residential house of a terrorist associate in Baramulla district for using it to facilitate terrorist activities.
According to the order, as per GNS on 01 Aug 2026, a Naka was established by Police Baramulla, 46 RR, 53 CRPF and 112 BSF at Zandfarn, Goriwan Crossing, Sheeri. During checking, one person coming on foot from Namblan Goriwan towards Sheeri tried to flee on seeing the Naka party but was apprehended. He was identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie son of Late Mohammad Sultan Ganie resident of Namblan Sheeri.
During search, 01 pistol alongwith magazine, 10 live rounds of 9mm, 01 Redmi 14C mobile phone and 02 Airtel SIM cards were recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 37/26 under section 7/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Sheeri and investigation started.
During investigation, it surfaced that accused Aijaz had received arms ammunition including 01 pistol with magazine, 10 live rounds and 02 hand grenades from terrorists in August 2024 in Namblan forests. On directions of terrorists, he was carrying the arms to execute terror act upon Police and non-locals in Sheeri area.
Further investigation led to recovery of 02 hand grenades from his residential house and it also came to fore that he had provided shelter and logistic support to terrorists in his double-storeyed house in 2024 and had utilized the same house for facilitating terrorist activities.
Accordingly, Sections 13,18,19,20,23,38 and 39 of UAPA were invoked.
As per the order, evidence has prima facie established that the accused used his double-storeyed residential house existing upon land under Khasra No. 423 min, located at village Namblan, Sheeri, Baramulla for furtherance of terrorist activities, which falls within ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” in terms of Section 2 (1)(g)(ii) of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967.
Therefore, in exercise of powers conferred by Section 25 of UA(P) Act 1967, prior approval has been accorded for attachment of the said house.(GNS)
