Ganderbal, July 26 (KNZ/TMJ): In a decisive move to curb illegal mining, the Department of Geology and Mining, Ganderbal, has blocked and dismantled several unauthorized access roads leading to Nallah Sindh, preventing the movement of vehicles used for the unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.

The action forms part of the department’s sustained enforcement campaign aimed at safeguarding river ecosystems and ensuring strict compliance with mining regulations.

Officials said surveillance has been significantly intensified across vulnerable stretches of Nallah Sindh, with dedicated teams maintaining round-the-clock vigil to deter illegal mining activities.

“Our enforcement teams remain on high alert. Any individual found indulging in illegal extraction or transportation of minerals will face strict legal action under the relevant provisions of law,” an official told Kashmir News Zone-the media journal

The department reiterated its commitment to preserving natural resources and maintaining ecological balance, stating that enforcement drives will continue across the district. It also urged the public to cooperate with authorities and report any instances of illegal mining to help protect the region’s environment.(KNZ/TMJ
