Jammu, Sep 29 (GNS): Police Post Sainik Colony of Police Station Channi Himmat has busted a counterfeit currency racket by arresting three persons who were allegedly printing fake notes at a rented premises in Chowadhi area of Jammu.

In a handout to GNS, the police said the action was taken on the basis of reliable information regarding suspected counterfeit currency activity being carried out at the rented premises.

Acting promptly, a team from PP Sainik Colony raided the spot and apprehended three persons identified as Vijay Sahani, son of Nagina Sahani, resident of Siwan, Bihar, at present Preet Nagar Digiana; Indrajeet Kumar, son of Abdesh Mandal, resident of Maharajpur, Sahib Ganj, Jharkhand, at present Trikuta Nagar; and Rahul Ahirwar, son of Bhagwan Das Ahirwar, resident of Khajraoo, Chattarpur, Madhya Pradesh, at present Marble Market.

During search of the premises, police recovered and seized suspected low quality counterfeit currency notes of Rs 100 denomination amounting to Rs 13,500, along with a printing machine, paper cutter, ink bottles of different colours, one toka and other incriminating material.

In this connection, FIR No. 269/2026 under Sections 178/180/181/3(5) BNS and 4/25 Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat and investigation taken up.

Police said investigation is focused on establishing the complete modus operandi, identifying the source and intended circulation of the suspected counterfeit currency and ascertaining involvement of any other persons.

Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the currency system and taking strict legal action against persons involved in manufacture, possession or circulation of counterfeit currency.(GNS)
