J&K Police continues crackdown on Illegal Mining in Baramulla, 02 JCB Excavators Seized

 

Baramulla July 08: In its sustained drive against illegal mining, Baramulla Police achieved another success by seizing 02 JCB excavators engaged in the unauthorized extraction of minerals.

 

During the enforcement action, one JCB excavator was found operating illegally and was being driven by Mehraj Din Wani, son of Abdul Hameed Wani, a resident of Tapper Payeen. Acting promptly under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act), a penalty of ₹23,317 was realized on the spot from the violator. Moreover, another JCB was found operating illegally and was being driven by Parvaiz Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rehman Rather, a resident of Fresthar. Acting promptly, the police seized the vehicle and initiated legal action under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Act.

 

J&K Police has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards illegal mining, which poses a serious threat to the environment and public resources. The district police remains committed to strict enforcement of the law and urges citizens to report any illegal mining activities to the nearest police establishment.
