Sopore, September 21: The inaugural match of the Maj Gopi Singh Rathore, SC Memorial North Kashmir Football Premier League 2026 was held today at Mazbug Ground, Sopore, marking the beginning of the much-anticipated football league.
The opening fixture witnessed an exciting contest between Mehrajpora FC and Kirmani FC, with Meharjpira FC emerging victorious by 2–1 over Kirmani FC.
A total of 12 teams are participating in the league, providing a platform for local footballers to showcase their talent and compete at a higher level.
Officials from the 22 Rashtriya Rifles (22 RR) were also present during the inaugural match.
The league is expected to witness competitive football action in the coming days, bringing together players and football enthusiasts from across North Kashmir.
