Kathua, May 16 (JKNS): A man died after sustaining a gunshot injury at his residence in the Dhana Basantpur area of Lakhanpur in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district during the intervening night, officials said on Saturday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Roop Singh (40), a resident of Dhana Basantpur.

They said the incident occurred at around 12:45 am, following which the injured was rushed to hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

The body has been shifted to the mortuary for medico-legal formalities, while police from Police Post Basantpur under Police Station Lakhanpur reached the spot and started investigation into the incident.
