One Dead, Several Hospitalised in Suspected Food Poisoning Incident in Rajouri

Rajouri, May 16 (JKNS): One person died while several others were hospitalised after a suspected food poisoning incident was reported from Mohra village of Kotranka area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district during the intervening night, officials said on Saturday.

 

Officials told news agency JKNS that the family members developed symptoms including vomiting, dizziness and unconsciousness after consuming dinner, allegedly containing some poisonous substance mixed in vegetables.

 

All the affected persons were initially shifted to Community Health Centre (CHC) Kandi for treatment and were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for advanced medical care.

 

Officials said one of the affected persons, identified as Mohammad Hussain, 60, son of Jali, a resident of Mohra village, died during treatment.

 

Meanwhile, police and health authorities have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the suspected poisoning. (JKNS)
