Kangan, June 12: MLA Kangan Mian Mehar Ali on Thursday visited Margund village in his constituency and met local farmers facing an acute shortage of irrigation water during the peak paddy cultivation season.

A large number of male and female farmers gathered to apprise the MLA of the difficulties they are facing due to the lack of irrigation facilities. The farmers informed him that the old irrigation canal in Margund has been damaged and washed away at several spots, severely affecting agricultural activities in the area.

During the visit, Mian Mehar Ali interacted with the affected residents and spoke to officials of the concerned department regarding the issues raised by the farmers. He briefed the officials about the ground situation and urged them to take immediate measures to address the problem.

The residents requested the MLA to ensure temporary irrigation water supply through the Kawcherwan area until restoration and repair work on the damaged Margund irrigation canal is undertaken.

Responding to their concerns, the MLA assured the farmers of his full support and said that every possible effort would be made to resolve the issue at the earliest. Following his on-the-spot intervention, the temporary irrigation water supply was restored, bringing much-needed relief to the farming community.

The visit was widely appreciated by the residents, who expressed satisfaction that their elected representative personally visited the area, listened to their grievances, and took prompt action to address their concerns.
